Files go straight from device to device, end-to-end encrypted. You confirm a short code so no one — not even us — can sit in the middle. Nothing is uploaded to our servers; we help your devices find each other and, if they can't connect directly, relay the still-encrypted stream.
How Beam works
Beam sends files directly between two browsers that have this page open — a phone and a laptop, or two computers. Devices on the same network appear automatically; for a device somewhere else, create a pairing code and open the link or scan the QR code on the other side.
Before the first transfer, both screens show a short verification code. If the codes match, nobody is sitting in the middle of the connection — not even DocuChan. Every transfer is end-to-end encrypted with keys the two devices agree on, and files never touch our storage.
DocuChan only helps the devices find each other. When a direct connection is impossible, the encrypted stream can pass through a relay that cannot read it. Keep the page open on both devices until the transfer finishes.
Questions about Beam
Is anything uploaded or stored?
No. Files go from one device to the other over an encrypted peer-to-peer connection. DocuChan keeps no copy, no filename and no transfer contents.
Do I need an app or an account?
No. Beam runs in current browsers on phones, tablets and computers. Open the page on both devices and pair them.
Should I use Beam or a link?
Use Beam when both devices are online right now. Use an encrypted link when the recipient will download later or isn't with you.
