Frequently asked questions
Can other apps edit my annotations?
Yes. By default marks are saved as standard PDF annotations (highlights, ink, shapes, text boxes and notes), so Acrobat, Preview and other readers show them and can change or delete them. Choose Flatten if you want them fixed into the page.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Draw with your finger, long-press to select text and tap Mark selected text, or find words to mark them. On a computer, the arrow keys move the selected mark.
Can it change the text that's already in the PDF?
No. Annotations sit on top of the page. To put new words over old ones, use Edit PDF; to remove text for good, use Redact.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The PDF is read and changed by code running in this browser tab. The tools page blocks network connections for file processing, so the document, its pages, and any password you type stay on your device.
How large can the PDF be?
Up to 150 MB per file, 300 MB in total when you work with several files, and 500 pages. Very large or complex documents also depend on your device’s memory.
Is it free?
Yes. The PDF tools are free to use, need no account, and add no watermark.
