Compress PDF files privately in your browser

Pick a quality level or enter the upload limit you need to hit. DocuChan builds the result privately and shows its exact size before you download.

Drop the PDF you want to make smallerUp to 150 MB per file, 300 MB in total, and 500 pages. Very large documents depend on this device’s memory.
Your PDF is never uploaded. Processing starts and ends inside this browser tab.

How to compress a PDF

  1. Choose or drop the PDF you want to make smaller.

  2. Keep Lossless to preserve text and links, or choose Balanced or Smallest for a much smaller image-based file. You can also enter a size limit.

  3. Check the exact size, then download the result or send it securely.

Frequently asked questions

Will my text stay selectable?

With Lossless, yes: the pages are unchanged. Balanced and Smallest rebuild each page as an image, so text can’t be selected or searched and links and forms are removed. The result always says which kind of file you get.

Can I compress a PDF to a specific size?

Enter a limit such as 2 MB. DocuChan looks for the best quality that fits and shows the exact size before you download. If the limit can’t be reached safely, it tells you.

Why isn’t the compressed file smaller?

Some PDFs are already well optimized. DocuChan never replaces your file with a bigger one; try a stronger setting if an image-based copy is acceptable.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The PDF is read and changed by code running in this browser tab. The tools page blocks network connections for file processing, so the document, its pages, and any password you type stay on your device.

How large can the PDF be?

Up to 150 MB per file, 300 MB in total when you work with several files, and 500 pages. Very large or complex documents also depend on your device’s memory.

Is it free?

Yes. The PDF tools are free to use, need no account, and add no watermark.
