Frequently asked questions
Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?
Not exactly. DocuChan rebuilds the text as paragraphs, headings and lists so you can edit it. Columns are read in order, but tables, text boxes and exact positions are not recreated, so complex layouts may need small fixes.
What about scanned PDFs?
Scanned pages hold a picture of the text, not the text itself. DocuChan can recognize the text on your device first (OCR) and then convert it. Check names and numbers afterwards.
Are pictures kept?
Pictures that can be taken out of the PDF cleanly are copied into the document where they appear. Others are left out, and DocuChan tells you how many.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The PDF is read and changed by code running in this browser tab. The tools page blocks network connections for file processing, so the document, its pages, and any password you type stay on your device.
How large can the PDF be?
Up to 150 MB per file, 300 MB in total when you work with several files, and 500 pages. Very large or complex documents also depend on your device’s memory.
Is it free?
Yes. The PDF tools are free to use, need no account, and add no watermark.
